Wordpress 2.8 Issues – How to Solve 'Plugin does not have a Valid Header'

I thought I had to share my two cents with this especially to those who had upgraded their Wordpress self-hosted version to 2.8 whilst based on my personal experience.

Many people had problem and issues regarding about the new version of WordPress or WordPress 2.8 especially in the case of installing previous sorts of plugins resulting an error and will prompt that says “the plugin does not have a valid header” or something like that. Anyway, it took me several weeks before I found out the solution regarding this error.

Let’s say for example you have installed the Auto Social Poster plugin:

The curl.class.php and mm_conf.php files and etc. were located within the “plugin” folder off the main root folder

i.e. wp-content/plugins/asp/autosocialposter/curl.class.php
wp-content/plugins/asp/autosocialposter/mm_conf.php

Then all you have to do is to get rid of that subfolder in the plugin by moving the files into the main folder of the plugin that you have installed.

Then the structure should be like this, i.e. wp-content/plugins/asp/curl.class.php and follows the rest of other files..

Another simple interpretation is to just remove the second folder of which the main files were located and move the files to the main folder of that plugin.

Yet, another way is to just check out the notepad file of readme.txt inside of the plugins folder of a specific plugin and just look out for the term,

Tested up to: 2.7.1

Just modify it as Tested up to: 2.8

That’s it kids and teens.. enjoy your plugins!
